Overmoulded Connectors
Typical market sectors we are comprehensively involved include Marine, Water Utilities, Medical, Military and Traffic Management Control.
Equipment in these sectors are often subjected to challenging environmental forces compacted by the threat of vandalism.
Re-wireable solutions such as compression glands will achieve IP68 - providing they are fitted 100% correctly and not tampered with in the field.
Compression glands will not stop water ingress once the cable jacket is compromised. Vandalising a cable that may cost a few pounds will result in the destruction of a significantly more expensive electronic assembly. The strandage of the inner cores of a cable will work like the wick of a candle over time.
By overmoulding it is possible to prevent water ingress completely, even if the cable jacket is breached. Overmoulding will also guarantee an IP seal without compromise during transport or field installation. Plastic injection overmoulding will also deliver a tamper proof solution.
Although many applications use overmoulding to increase the performance & security of a connector - overmoulding is often used to make a product unique or simply more aesthetically pleasing.
